About PLANTo3.
PLANTo3 is a plugin for both AutoCAD and Revit and offers many new tools to simplify and automate your day to day work in AutoCAD PLANT3D. It also allows you to export PLANT3D's all piping components in addition to steel members to native Revit family elements. PLANTo3 offers an easy and intuitive Bill of Materials generator with pricing capability.
Download and Installation
First step is to download PLANTo3 and install it on your computer. You must have AutoCAD PLANT3D versions 2025, 2024, 2023, 2022 installed as well. Installation is easy, just follow the default steps. The installer will NOT run automatically, you need to run it manually by double clicking on the .EXE file downloaded.
After installation is successful, PLANTo3 is automatically added to both AutoCAD PLANT3D and Revit's ribbon. When you try to run any command for the first time, the program will ask you to enter your free trial credentials. Click on the button below to submit a form to us where you can specify your email and the password of your choosing. Please select PLANTo3 from 'Product' list on the request form.
PLANTo3 Highlights
Features
PLANTo3 IN AUTOCAD PLANT3D
PLANTo3 Tab on AutoCAD PLANT3D Ribbon
Linear Units
Sets up current drawing linear units. This setting is used for modeling and also for exporting to Revit.
Property Line
Creates new plant/building property lines that can be used to create column grids and stick frame for the steel structure. It also allows you to modify existing property line boundary.
Column Grids
Creates column grids and stick frames. It also creates elevation marks on stick frame as a guide when laying out pipe lines and insert structural members and other components. Stick frame can be generated automatically using an existing property line, column grids and structure levels (discussed next). You can specify stick column extensions as well as stick column footing extensions. Once the stick frame is generated, you can use another command to create steel members by selecting stick frame elements.
Create Levels
Creates and modify levels in the drawing. Levels are graphical representations of structure floor/level elevations, They can be used together with column grids to generate stick frames.
View Options
This is a visibility control tool. You can isolate, hide and show objects in the drawing based on which column grids and/or levels they are on. It also allows you to hide and show property lines, levels and stick frames.
Setting
Allows you to select the default steel shape and other insertion options from the dialog shown below:
Member
Allows you to model the selected default steel shape using stick frame members.
Piping
This piping tool allows you to model piping components freely or using stick frame members in 3D. You can do normal pipe routing as well as inserting fittings. You can also connect pipe lines end to end.
Modify
Allows you to modify/view existing piping components and structural members.
You can also change the shapes of structural members. It also allows you to isolate, hide and show selected entities.
Bill of Materials
Allows you to generate full Bill of Materials reports for current drawing or a batch of drawings into one report. This BOM tool also is capable of assigning prices to components and include them in the report.
Export PLNT
Use this dialog box to export PLANT3D components and structural members as well as primitive AutoCAD entities to a file. This file can then be imported into Revit to generate either native Revit family elements or generic models.
Export PLNT - Batch
The second Tab of the this dialog box allows you do to do the same export operations as stated above but but exporting several drawings in a batch as oppose to export only current opened drawing. Same settings are applied as well.
Export PID
Use this dialog box to export P&ID entities to a file. This file can then be imported into Revit to generate equivalent Revit's model curves and notes. Make sure before running this command that the current drawing is actually a P&ID drawing.
PLANTo3 IN REVIT
PLANTo3 Tab REVIT Ribbon
Import
Allows you to import the file you exported from PLANTo3 in AutoCAD PLANT3D and use many tools to model the exported components in Revit.
The exported components are displayed as shown where you can do many operations as discussed in the 'More...' link below.
Modify
Allows you to modify existing instances in the opened project file. It also allows you do isolate, hide and show instances. You can also filter instances listed based on their category and perform many operations on them.
3D
Switches the current view into a 3D view.
